Slightly Flawed…

July 2nd, 2009

Been a while eh? Well, you see kiddies, when I get behind on posting it’s bad. As you can tell, I like to write very long posts even without much to say. So, when I have a lot to say, it turns into a day project to make one post. Kinda dissuading.

So I’ll try breaking it up into smaller posts over the next bit. I should be doing that anyway. I’m gonna go get some Cocoa Krispies first. BRB.

Ahhh, that’s better. I love me some Cocoa Krispies. I don’t know about you guys - but all the cereal I loved when I was a kid I just can’t eat anymore. Either too sugary or it tears the crap outta my mouth. But not Cocoa Krispies. They treat me good. But now they’re getting soggy. Just a sec.

Ok there we go. Wait a minute - I grabbed a Pepsi instead of a Dr. Pepper. Gah! Look, clearly this isn’t working out today. We’ll just pick this up tomorrow.

.
. .
. . .
I’m just kidding.

OK, so first things first. Transformers 2 is not a movie I’m going to see. It’s hard enough to convince me to see the Star Trek movie, while I kinda want to - I heard that there are some crazy plot holes or just a lack of plot altogether. I will see it eventually, but the plot issues are holding me back. Big-bada-booms aren’t enough to sell me on a movie. Unless is Milla saying Big-bada-boom. But bay’s bada-booms are fails in my opinion.

So needless to say - Bay’s latest vomit he calls “work” has sparked 0 interest for me. That being said, doesn’t mean you can’t get a few good laughs out of it right? First up - Transformers 2 trailer done accurately (no spoilers).

Next up (and by far the funniest thing I have read all year) a review done by Topless Robot. I want to thank Travis for showing me this, this past weekend. THIS HAS SPOILERS A PLENTY so you’ve been warned. But if you have no interest in seeing the movie or have seen it and weren’t amused, or hell, even if you loved it:

Read this! I can’t stress enough how hilarious this review is.

This past month or so has been all about personal accomplishments big and small. I was really happy with myself to have done Muse - Hysteria on bass while playing vocals on expert level. It wasn’t pretty but I didn’t come close to failing out at all. It definitely isn’t the hardest song on Rock Band 2 but it keeps ya busy - so *pats self on back*.

This isn’t me on the video but here’s the expert track part.

All while doing vocals. *flex*

Also saying that EA Sports Active has been working out is an understatement. I’m not going to lie, there are some bugs/flaws with some workouts (which will be covered in my review that’s already a novel before getting into the actual exercises), but overall this is solid. I’ve never felt more accomplished and better from any other workout I’ve tried. My endurance has skyrocketed - to say the least and overall my energy level is higher than it’s been in years. I didn’t expect to see any results besides this, but I’m already looking at a 5 pound loss in weight (already factored in daily weight fluctuation). I managed to get two solid workouts made… one cardio with upper body and one lower body with heavier cardio (I really need the cardio), and the default workout schedule they have is two days on and one day off, so this works out great. It’s been almost two months since I bought it, and I still feel like I’m just getting warmed up. So again *high five*.

Finally, not so much a personal one, but it’s a pretty big accomplishment - Outcast Adventurers is going strong. Our guild on EQ2 is growing, and the quality of players we’re recruiting is looking top notch. As some of you may know, running a guild takes a hefty amount of time and energy, so that’s some of the reason I’ve been held up. That and Fallout 3 *cough*.

Yeah so I beat Fallout 3 about last week, but I’m still playing it. They chocked this game full of content just like Oblivion. I think my play time is past 90 hours or so at the moment, and I feel halfway done (before even touching the expansions). You know what is my favorite aspect of Fallout 3? Having 100 sneak. That means, planting grenades in people’s pockets. Here’s someone’s montage:

I personally favor planting them in Super Mutant’s pockets. They say “GONNA BLOW!” and “TAKE COVER!” in very Warcraft orc fashion. Shame I can’t find videos on those. Zug Zug. Biggest problem I have with Fallout 3 is that it only plays half of my playlist on my Ipod connected through my Xbox 360. Not sure why that is, but if I want to listen to artists I-Y I gotta start the music playing on the dashboard. Otherwise artists #-H will be the only ones I hear. Radiohead is on the latter half, I tend to use that part. Still odd that happens tho, haven’t noticed that in any other game I play on the 360 (including Oblivion). Other than that, the game is great. Wonderful - all things good. And Ms. Jaxxy Vindalooooooo- please be sure to let me know how you do on playing evil >:D

It’s been a paragraph since I posted a video. And I really want to share the Fumbles experience. Because it’s Fumbles, it’s always been Fumbles.

And finally, some music. I use to be big into metal - and still am with the classic metal. The newer stuff I have a problem with. It makes me sound old, but I don’t enjoy music where you can’t decipher the different instruments. Where it seems the guitarists and drummers want to hit as many things as possible - not make notes, riffs, or even music. That doesn’t mean the music has to be boring - it just has to have style.

So I’m enjoying Mastodon. They’ve been around for a while and I’ve heard a song or two occasionally - but this song Oblivion has really stolen my short attention span. It’s heavy but melodic, and damn good. Video’s wierd… but it’s a metal video, so duh. I downloaded Crack the Skye album and thus far, very good.

And now - a mash up of gaming news at it’s finest failure.

Fitness Hero and Workout Hero have been trademarked! You know what I love? A franchise that exploits the consumer by refusing to eliminate disc swapping (and then later re-releasing the same songs again to make more money) to handle my workout routine. Because Wii Fit releasing a whole new game for an expansion pack/patch worth of updates wasn’t bad enough - Activision has to show them how it’s done.

Starcraft 2 won’t support LAN! That’s right! Talking about biting the hand that feeds - dismissing the thing that made you what you are, is the epitome of fail. Blizzard - your merge with Activision has been for the worse. You guys need to get a whole new “business ethic” committee. This is the last straw, separating Starcraft 2 out to get more money was bad enough - you guys lost my pre-order and support. Go to hell.

Thankfully - within the same day a petition already reached 6k signatures. I don’t have much faith in petitions, but good luck guys. Even if you win, they still lost me.

Activision you suck. Did I mention that? If they didn’t do enough dickish moves for you already - don’t worry, there’s more! Just look at how they handle Brutal Legend. First they drop it, then when it does GREAT at E3 they say “but it’s ours!!”

Finally, China bans gold farming! In a country were freedoms run free this comes at a shock *cough*sarcasm*cough*. While I’m not a fan of how much China bans, I’m not really opposed to this. Gold farms are running like sweatshops (and not to mention annoying with spam).

That’s all for now. I leave you with my new desktop background.

MMO Bonanzaaaa!

May 5th, 2009

I hardly had time for Everquest 2, but I find myself recently resubscribing to Age of Conan and giving Free Realms a whirl. Bad Mary! *slaps wrist*

One plus side - Free Realms is… well… free. And while looks super kid friendly (because it is) it’s actually a ton of fun. You can get a $5 subscription fee a month version that enlarges your quest log capacity and unlocks more content in general - but you don’t need to because IT’S FREE. It’s tempting since it’s only five bucks, and when it comes to that quest log space it’s REALLY tempting, but again you don’t need to because IT’S FREE.

I really recommend everyone try Free Realms, there’s a ton of content and it’s pretty damn fun. Lots of mini games and the ability to play on any server is a huge perk. Of course, it’s not bug free - there’s some problems meeting up with group members occasionally, and let’s not talk about how declining someone to be on your friends list puts them on your friends list. But overall, it runs well enough… especially considering (did I mention this) IT’S FREE!

If you do end up paying for the subscription, you get to have pets. The biggest perk? You could be a ninja - with a pirate dog. What’s not to love?

You’re welcome for that annoying squirrel.

Now with Age of Conan, we’ll see how that goes. I whole-heartedly love the ingenuity with Conan, and it has amazing promise, I just think it doesn’t try as hard as it should. One of the reasons I left it was having a level 50 character (out of 80) with no new content. They really expected a level 50 character to mindlessly grind to the next tier of content at 60. No thanks, I’ll play a game that has something for me to play. Now coming back to it, they’ve remedied that situation and have a new load of content for my 50 Herald of Xotli to demolish - but there still seems to be a lot more work that needs to be done. It just doesn’t feel complete. It’s too early to say tho, I want to toy with it a bit more and there will be a major patch coming up drastically altering some mechanics, so who knows?

I hope you guys enjoyed pictures I posted from Eugene’s Bar 2.0 Party, I thoroughly enjoyed them as well. I have some video from the night, but I think I’ll save those for when the appropriate time to blackmail arrives. I’m gonna post some more pictures in a bit (when I find my copy of Adobe Photoshop lying around.) from an experiment I did with a Facebook application. It’s a farm town, you plant crops have them harvested and then plant again. I did the most natural thing you can do with a a blank template and turned it into a tetris playing field. It’s quite glorious. I just need to fuse the photos together to complete the process. Yes I am that special. Here’s a smaller picture of it actually

Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire - you have potential. It looks like you have a halfway decent story and the humor is humorous. I’m worried you putting out the sexual jokes a bit too much, and it normally wouldn’t be a problem but they really aren’t the funny parts. I worry for you my friend, stick with the eye rolling puns and sad jokes please - you’re doing ok with that part. Adult Swim. Seriously go away. I watched a show of yours called Look Around You for ten minutes last night and I can say without a doubt it is the stupidest thing you have ever aired. I turned the station to CNN and watched Lou Dobbs Tonight and was entertained more. Let me add - Lou Dobbs was covering a case of missing children and I was vastly more entertained than your show. Congratulations on proving me wrong about thinking you couldn’t possibly fail more than you did before.

I’m looking forward to EA Sports Active releasing later this month. Trying to break some bad habits before it comes out and use it as a stepping stone for improving my overall health. That makes me smart. I’ll miss you Sake. You sweet sweet nectar of life. For the time being I’m using Wii Fit’s 30 minute step session to get some activity going while watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. That was a tip from Tammi and I can say it was a good one. It doesn’t feel like it does much but the next day I can verify that very much yes it does do something. I’m also midway through writing my lengthy Wii Fit review… after that I’ll finish my Star Ocean: The Last Hope game and review it as well. If you read my previous statements in older posts about Wii Fit you can predict the outcome of that review. Star Ocean: The Last Hope, while it’s a good game, I can tell you right now I still prefer the PS1 version Star Ocean: The Second Story in the end. There’s a bit more too it than that and the overall outcome will not be one that many other will agree with (for good reason) but it’s a review. It’s personal and stuff. Jeez.

I hope everyone is doing well. I hope my sister has a fantastic birthday this Thursday (but she’ll probably be raiding in WoW?) and an early happy Mom’s Day to all the hot mommas out there. I’m just looking forward to a fantastic Benihana dinner with our EQ2 buddy Suzy. We’ll be recapping how awesome we are for pwning The Shadow Odyssey expansion group content boss - Varsoon. Yay, we win at EQ2! Suzy Fraps’ed a video of one of our kill I plan on posting later (this fight is insane) But we schooled him look like the two dollar whore he is. Don’t judge - his whoreness has been established before.

Good Times

March 10th, 2009

It’s been a while since we had someone over to rock out with us on Rock Band, and it was nice to have it be someone we haven’t seen a while like Eugene. Rock Band is normally our number one choice of things to play outside of EQ2, but Dan and I have been neglecting it for a while… EQ2 has been winning game decision battles and a lot of shows we watch are back on season so playing catch up with the DVR takes a lot of effort as well.

Why am I talking about this? Let’s bore you with something else besides DVR talk shall we? All tho, season finale of Burn Notice was quite fun, and I’m really looking forward to the next season of My Boys. Gah! I just can’t be stopped!

Well anyway, I’ve played a bit more of Star Ocean, and I still really like it. It’s gotten into the cheesy “friends are forever” part of the story, but still tolerable. The dungeons, I gotta say, pretty damn tough. I was really hoping that RPGs were taking a note from Enchanted Arms and adding the “save whenever” feature, but they haven’t. Hell, Star Ocean I would say is going the opposite. What’s that? A ten floor dungeon that’s also a puzzle that takes about 2 hours to go through? Three save points. I’m starting to find my old tendancies of overleveling kicking in just because I don’t want one wayward battle to nullify an hour and half of game time. They also went ahead and didn’t give you the “regen health and power” functionality at save points, but they have there own little points for that as well, no where near a save point… first time I’ve seen anything like that. Still a lot of fun tho.

Other than that, things are good. When Eugene and Luke came over we even watched Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and the entire second season of The Guild. Seriously some fun stuff. I ended up downloading the soundtrack to Dr. Horrible’s yesterday, songs are just too damn catchy.

Speaking of music, I see that dust films has put out another literal translation video. Oh it’s fun. It helps when the video itself is pretty hilarious without re-writing the lyrics.

Waiting patiently

February 26th, 2009

I had decided today was going to be dedicated to Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I was re-setting up my stickcam account to webcam the game as I play it and transferring some new music to my ipod in preparation of a terrible soundtrack (lets hope not). Hell I might even go to the store to get some sake to really relax for the event. Yes ladies and gentlemen, I have high hopes. I tried not to because I don’t think it’s ever a good idea to have high hopes for a video game, but unfortunately I do.

So what’s the hold up? I think Star Ocean knows I have high hopes to. Now, I follow tracking like a hawk whenever I order anything, and I’ve seen some pretty goofy stuff, I think we all have. But when I look at this tracking, I really think my package has a serious indecision about actually being delivered.

tracking!

Look at that, the only time it’s thinking “I can go on, I can make it!!” is in Kentucky - which makes sense. Sorry Kentucky. Wait, no I’m not sorry.

Ah well, it’s all for the best I guess, I have an EQ2 raid later today anyway. Err… I have one tomorrow as well, and DnD Saturday… Sunday it is! Who am I kidding? I probably won’t wait that long.

Be sure to check my twitter (notification box on the right hand side of the page) for updates on whenever my webcam goes live - that will now be my main form of webcam communication. If your interested in seeing the new Star Ocean release, I’ll try to get to it tomorrow afternoon-ish.

Also, if anyone is curious in seeing other games, I take requests. I’ll punch you in the teeth if you mention Infinite Undiscovery tho… the burns have not yet healed people.

Speaking of EQ2, I have yet to find a way to accurately record the screen without the webcam being in my eyeball. If I find a way, I’ll let ya know. Until then, here’s a picture of my toons, Tevea and Napallo. Tevea’s camera shy and had to go and close her freaking eyes. Still cute nonetheless. Clickie for full screen

Tevea and Napallo

One thing I love about EQ2 is the beautiful graphics. Not quite Age of Conan, mostly still fantasy based, but here’s a normal screenshot from my laptop. the grainy-ness is only there from the quality I set my ingame screenshots to be taken at. It really is a gorgeous game, if your machine can handle it. Here’s Tevea on my desktop machine, higher graphic settings (you can tell on her armor).

Shiny new computer… distracting.

February 23rd, 2009

The majority of my blog posting is done away from my gaming rig upstairs, where EQ2 doesn’t have control over my actions. It has been done mostly on a laptop while watching mindless TV entertainment. Fortunately for me, unfortunately for my blog, my new laptop can run EQ2 quite splendidly. Therefore, it’s harder to resist the urge. Not to mention thinking a week with a new gaming rig and laptop would be enough time to get the website ready again. But here I am, ready to review and blather mindlessly.

While I was without a computer, I spent some time finally unwrapping and trying out Infinite Undiscovery. I played about an hours worth, and I don’t think I’ll be continuing it.

It’s almost as if a game designer came up to me and asked “Mary, what would be the worst first hour of gameplay for an RPG?” Here’s what I’d say.

*Ahem*

First and foremost, make sure to get the most generic RPG persona ever, make them really really irritating. Have the main character be a jackass - NO WAIT, even better! Make the main character the most spineless weak hero in gaming history. Then introduce the suave and sexy female counterpart, and have some friction between them. It’ll make the romantic interest later that much better right?

As far as combat, make sure you give me delightful text documents to read about how to do the fight - and make combat completely unique from every other RPG anyone has played. Nice and complex… but even more important, give me ONE fight to try the fighting system out before sending me out in the world. This is so I spend 15 minutes reading, and 2 seconds spamming buttons going “wait wha?”

After some un-interactive and un-interesting dungeon crawling and demoing more stuff I don’t get to try out more than once, do something completely and utterly annoying in *any* RPG - but take it one step farther by putting it at the beginning of your RPG - a chase scene. Oh yes, running around getting pelted by ranged fire, running from a big ole troll up the stairs, and make it feel like forever. Complete with tons of useless cut scenes for my heroes to say “OMG we’re totally being chased still”.

Once we get thru the chase scene… hey… you know what would be fun? Pitch black, mini map failing, and a Tenchu style sneak attack/spotting system. Really convey that you don’t know what genre your game wants to be. Just keep throwing in so much introduction to stuff without giving me time to really practice it. Be sure to have a few cut scenes of the two characters being dumbasses. Then, have me wander around aimlessly sneak attacking, or saying “f- that just run up and swing” throw in some annoying flying bugs to peck at you endlessly as you try to pick up treasure or snipe enemies from afar. After a certain point where I go “OMG am I done yet?!” Have the bugs endlessly respawn on my head. Be sure to give those flying bugs the ability to knock me down. Those 2cm stingers pack some punch!

Just when I think this can’t get any more annoying - gimmie another chase scene! Oh man would that just SUCK! So after the chase scene, be sure to give me a lengthy cut scene where I get to meet so many more douchebags that couldn’t be more stereotypical RPG cookie cutters if they threw in a super annoying little kids. So after a failed plot introduction and a bunch of people not even considering the unoriginal idea of identical twins seperated at birth, have the really annoying suave sexy chic get sick. Why not. Then have everyone you just met say “We can’t help her, we’re on a mission, she’s going to die” - leaving the main spineless character to say “I’ll help her”. Icing on the cake you ask? Have everyone in the party go “NO WAY! We can’t trust HIM!” since leaving her to die is the safer option. It’s genius.

Then do something completely and utterly nonsensical. Give me player control just to carry around the unconscious chic in my arms, following the group as they get to fight creatures in daylight. Talk about a waste of time. Look at all of them getting to fight. Like I haven’t been able to yet. Looks like fun. But I’m carrying this stupid bitch in my arms.. why? Hell if it were up to me I’d leave her there like her friends originally wanted to do. Have the group eventually (but please take your time) separate from you, and you go your own way carrying her in your arms, alone. So when I zone into a section where I can FINALLY free roam - just have a completely RANDOM dragon fly down and start shooting fireballs at my head while I am utterly helpless. Oh WOW would that be horrible!!! Just lost as can be dodging fireballs, trying to find an exit. Have the fireballs knock me down on the ground and the dragon pause waiting for me to stand back up. BUT before I can move, have him hit me in the exact same spot again so I just constantly get juggled in one spot.

But here’s the crowning achievement. As soon as I get to town, introduce me to those stereotypical annoying little brats I mentioned earlier. I’ve been dying to meet them. What’s that? You put them as my party members for the next section of the story? Wow. I could not have planned a shittier opening to an RPG myself.

*Standing Ovation*
*Save and Quit. For Life*

You know, I read some reviews saying the first hour or so pretty much sucks but it picks up after that. No. Why do I have to suffer through something that just sucks? I paid money for fun, I’m not getting the fun, so why exactly am I playing this? I don’t think I’ll be playing it again… ever. Maybe in a few years. The plot is so see through, the characters are irritating in every single sense, the combat system seems really interesting but damn if I get to see that. The whole time playing this game I thought “I’d rather be playing Tales of Vesperia right now”. Even with ToV got slightly predictable the game and characters adjusted to it, and used it to their advantage to make it *better*. Ah well.

More later. Videos or articles or both.

Wish I had more…

January 24th, 2009

But being sick for the past week has definitely not helped the writing situation much. Things are pretty tame over here, the new year is starting off with little incident (which is a good thing at this point) besides, you know, the whole sick thing. Oh and my cat taking a 20 foot nosedive off of the stair railing.

I’m hitting up EQ2 pretty hard, but still find time to squeeze in some Neverwinter Nights 2, and 360. It was nice to get into Rock Band again, it had been neglected (mostly due to a severe lack of good download content). We also ran another practice game for DnD 4.0 this past weekend. I had serious doubts about 4.0 before, but after two sessions I can easily say that they did extremely well building this engine. Not sure when our actual campaign is starting, but I imagine soon since Tammi and Travis feel like moving away by August. Bitches. I mean - good luck, best wishes, and all that… bitches.

But I hope everyone out there is well. If you’re watching Fox News, your probably already locked away in a bomb shelter. For the rest of civilized society, if you’re missing any of your extremely conservative friends/family, let me explain why.

Dust Films - Literal Translation

January 19th, 2009

This absolutely hilarious site has “literal translation” videos that I’ve been a fan of for a little while now. While I loved their version of A-Ha’s “Take on Me”, I was a bigger fan of Tears For Fears’ “Head Over Heels” video personally.

That was until today. When showing these gems to Tammi and Travis, Travis asked if there were anymore. Found out there was one that was so amazingly funny, we are still recovering our breathes and proper heartbeat rhythms. Especially if you are a fan of “Under the Bridge” by RHCP, you absolutely have to watch this.

Other than that, things are going well here. Had an awesome raid with my guild, Outlanders, last night. It resulted in our mythical updates for about six of us there. Mine is by far the sweetest of them all. I ended drinking a bottle of sake, and am still recovering from that. It did cause me to eat almost an entire bag of Chex Mix, and call up my sister up at 3am (her time) begging her to play Left 4 Dead with me…. AND SHE DID! She was even forgiving of my friendly fire count that session.

Ahhh good times.

A lot to cover

January 14th, 2009

This past Friday we spent over in the bay area to have a great dinner with Eugene, Deb, and Luke. It was a much needed “catch up” and it’s always fun to hang out with those guys. Well Eugene and Deb at least. Ha!

Afterwards, Eugene went with us to Luke’s apartment in the area so we could play Guitar Hero, Left 4 Dead, and watch some Zero Punctuation clips. Watched Eugene do some flat out unreal guitar work on both guitar hero and an actual acoustic. Luke wasn’t happy when he’s trying to learn himself and Eugene says he plays “a little” - and proceeds to kick Luke’s ass. I thought it was hilarious personally.

A whole bottle of sake later I’m playing Left 4 Dead. A game, while I’ve always appreciated it’s worth, said “Hell no” to playing myself. I’m a pansy ok? I don’t like horror. Horror movies have never done it for me. The only thing I can stand horror wise is video games (and a really old VHS/board game called Doorway to Horrors - good shit). I absolutely love watching other people play horror games. I think it has to do with the fact that I think horror games are generally better stories than about anything released in the past 10 years for movies. Also, it’s memories for me.

Let me tell you about my sister. She’s a bad ass. Take any good quality of me, and amplify it ten fold. While your at it, amplify a normal human beings talking speed by ten fold. There’s my sis. Way back in the day, she would play Resident Evil 2 in the basement of our house, always after midnight with the lights off. Every day she played, I was there on the couch behind her tense as could be, jumping at every single sound. She kicked so much ass there was no real threat tho. She did the same for - one of my absolute favorite games - Eternal Darkness. If you love horror, look past the graphics of the Gamecube and get this freakin game. I’ll right a review sometime so you can get a better understanding of why, but I can’t stress it enough that this game is perfect for horror fans.

I actually bought Eternal Darkness while I was out here in California for Luke to play. Yes I mean that how it sounds. I was going to have Dan play it, but after buying Resident Evil 2, opening it up and then handing it to Dan while grunting, he was a little confused. Luke played Eternal Darkness while I watched, and it was totally worth it. About a year ago I tried this myself. I dusted off the Gamecube, put in the disk. Played through the first five minutes (which was the heroine walking into the mansion and looking around, that’s it). Found a save spot and quit. I went to sleep terrified.

“Wuss!” I know. Seriously go ahead and say it, but don’t say it like I’m not aware of it myself. I’m self-aware of my wussiness.

So I never saw myself playing Left 4 Dead. But the game plays a bit differently than most horror games. It’s still scary ok, but not the exact same. The only thing that makes my eyebrows curl and my voice get creaky - the Witch. Still, it’s only when you get close enough to hear the sing-songy cry she does. That’s just creepy. If I startle her I actually laugh my ass off, but it doesn’t stop the fear I get before then.

But I gotta recommend this game. I constantly hear that even tho all the missions are about the same, and the playthrough is almost identical each time - it’s still a different experience each and every time you play. Absolutely right. It is a game to play with friends and have an absolute blast with. Plus the opening intro is a highly enjoyable movie short, and an excellent training video.

But that’s about all I got for you. I downloaded the Knothole Island expansion for Fable 2, but considering I haven’t finished the story yet, it’ll be a while before I dabble.

I also wanna congratulate my very awesome EQ2 guild, Outlanders, for getting down both Venril Sathir and Leviathon this past week. Amazing job guys, you really showed some serious skill pulling that off.

A slew of randomness!

December 17th, 2008

Going through a backed up DVR - I came across this gem.

The reason I watch the Daily Show is because Jon Stewart actually knows his stuff (and is not some host reading cue cards) and also because he doesn’t pull punches. It makes for some awkward interviews (including one with ex-British Prime Minister Tony Blair). It’s refreshing to see the difficult questions asked and then uncomfortably dodged.

I did the mistake of downloading A Kingdom for Keflings arcade game yesterday. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but after six hours spent delivering materials back and forth between workshops, to get more blueprints, to deliver materials back and forth between workshops… I started questioning my purpose in life. I love a good strategy game, and I fully realized the limitations Keflings provided before I downloaded it, but I still expected something a bit more. Literally, after the first five minutes it is exactly the same. Sure there’s more materials to work with and more workshops to use them in… but it’s all really just more of the same. Don’t believe the B rated reviews on IGN and 1up, it’s a waste of time.

The majority of my time is still spent playing EQ2. I admittedly feel a bit overwhelmed with the 360 back. I stared at my game library a bit too long trying to decide which game I wanted to play first. It’s like picking which child is your favorite, but harder. So I played A Kingdom for Keflings. Next time I’ll just pick favorites. But between the holiday events of EQ2 and the fact that is actually a fun MMO, the Xbox will need to share me with my PC, whether it likes it or not. Also whether my sleep schedule likes it or not, and it really doesn’t.

I have a decent set up for my website “direction” (the quotes symbolize something, I’m sure of it). I’m not spoiling anything, but at least one of the ideas is not half terrible. I plan on implementing it at the start of the year…. because I’m pretty damn lazy, and the new “direction” (there are those damn quotations again!) takes a lot more effort. But you guys earned it!!! Next year…. but still!!! Earned it!!!
